Patriotic Flower

Slow Down and Craft on.

I call this a Patriotic flower project but you can paint the flowers whatever color you want. And you can use whatever ribbon you want it doesn't have to Patriotic. When I call it a Slow Down and Craft on project that just means I didn't use hot glue or a heat gun for fast drying. I let everything dry over night or for a couple of hours before next step.

Supplies I used:

6- 21inch ruler sticks

3- large craft sticks (large popsicle sticks)

1- red, white and blue metal flower on stick from Dollar Tree

Green burlap ribbon from Hobby Lobby

Jute twine (brown and a green) from Dollar Tree

White twine from Michaels

Burlap with buffalo check on the outside ribbon from Hobby Lobby

Patriotic ribbon from Dollar Tree

Paper studio flowers

Brown Antique finishing wax

wet cloth/ baby wipe

1 black button

Tacky glue

E-6000 glue

This project was done without hot glue but you can make it with whatever glue you want to use.

Step 1

Using a wet or dry cloth spread on a light coat of the Brown Antique Finishing wax over the 6 ruler sticks. (the side without the numbers)

Step 2

Turn over the ruler sticks stain sided facing down.

Take the 3 large craft sticks and glue all the ruler sticks together. Place one on the tippy top and bottom with the third one in the middle.

Next cut about one inch piece of the green burlap ribbon to cut our leaf like shape. You will need 2 to 3 leaves per flower.

After that use wire cutters to cut apart the metal flower so they are 3 flowers not one.

Last cut burlap ribbon with buffalo check on the outside to fit around all 6 ruler sticks. Cut the Patriotic ribbon the same size and then cut in half to fit down the middle of the other ribbon.
